Teen Support

It's a challenge... getting a teen to come to terms with an epilepsy diagnosis. NO ONE wants to run towards it to embrace.   There is just too much judgement and not enough understanding.  The Epilepsy Foundation is working to change this. Check out Youth in Epilepsy and their Facebook page.  For my daughter, I just sent her the information and let her read it at her own pace.  She has really had to come acceptance at her own pace. We have to respect teens for where they are, give them the tools they need to be successful and show them the encouragement when they are ready to grow.

Myth Busters- Talk About It

November is Epilepsy Awareness Month so...
Head over and read about MythBusters at TalkAboutIt. Share with your firends...or anyone who will listen. Here are a few!
  1. Don't put anything in our mouth if you see a grand mal seizure ( which is the most common type of seizure but NOT the only type of seizure)
  2. You can't catch it !
  3. It's an electrical discharge in the brain!
